Transition Your Look from Day to Night

- Fashion

A versatile outfit can take you from 9-5 to 5-9 without much effort.  With a few steps, you can make the transition seamlessly and therefore get more wear out of your look.  And all things considered, don’t we all want to get the most out of our investments (including investment pieces)?

For example, I transitioned this Bowie sweatshirt from Zara, leather athletic shorts and Doc Martens from day to night.  My friend recently came to visit from Virginia Beach and we were walking around Georgetown during the day and then went out to dinner at night.   With a few adjustments to my look, I was ready for both without changing my core outfit and additionally giving me more time to spend enjoying with my friend!

Add a Statement Jacket (or vest)

First, I added this faux fur vest on top of the sweatshirt to give the look dimension while still showing the stripe detail on the sleeve.  Faux fur instantly boosts the glam appeal of an outfit (I mean… unless it’s matted faux fur… gross).  I’m a big fan of rocker chic and for this reason, adding this vest on top added that little omph it needed.

Pump, Pump, Pump It Up

Next, I didn’t want to do a typical pump with the leather shorts because, in my opinion, that would be a bit much so I took out my Jeffrey Campbell Litas (LOVE these heels).  They are easily one of my most comfortable pairs because of the platform and the chunky heel and they give me around 6 inches of height (heck yea!).  They stay with my edgy side but dress it up from my Doc Martens.

Polish it Off

As a matter of fact, sometimes it can be as simple as throwing your hair into a chic high ponytail and adding a lipstick.  I used Mac “Sin” matte lipstick for my night look (linked below) which consequently made my makeup look fresher just by doing that.  My Mac lipsticks last all day and I pair this one with the Currant liner which blends it while still giving it extra staying power.

Whether you go from boardwalk to boardroom, from briefcase to case of beer, in any case, transition SEAMLESSLY, Darlings!
