Holiday Ready // Furs, Sequins & Velvet, OH MY!

- Fashion

Can you believe it’s time to get holiday ready?! Yea, neither can I.  This time of year is all about furs, sequins and the latest trends – velvet and metallics.  I’m so ready to style these trends for the upcoming holiday season and share how to pair some bold textures!

Furs and Sequins

Sequins in the day time can be tough to pull off.  Be confident!  “Skirt the Rules” as the Kate Spade shirt says and cross the lines between daywear and nightwear.  Balance your look with a basic top or a top with a simple graphic print.  If you do black sequins on the bottom, don’t do black fur on the top.  It’s too much and the different textures need a different color to separate them.  Nothing audacious because the sequins and fur are audacious enough.

I kept my eye makeup simple with just a bold lip and sleek straight hair.  With such bold textures, keep your makeup more simple so it’s not too drastic overall.  Your hair and makeup can balance a look or completely set it over the edge so be conscious of this when planning your look!

Velvet and Lace

Stepping into the holiday season like *POW* with a velvet blazer, lace pants, and a velvet choker.

When you’re looking for lace pants, find a pair with a lining unless you’re going for a Kardashian look – which I am all for, just not during the day.  These had a nude silk lining so while it kept the appearance of skin tone, there was no actual skin.

Be bold and forego the camisole.  I mean you can wear it, but you don’t have to as long as the opening isn’t too drastic.  You can be sexy while still being classy, it’s a thing.  Also, why not pair your black velvet blazer with a black velvet choker if you’re not doing the cami!  It draws the eye up.

Metallics

The new metallic trend can make your outfit instantly holiday ready.  I really wish I had a corset belt to cinch the waist on this belt but this wasn’t a terrible alternative at all!  I paired it with OTK Manolo boots because, well because it’s cold in the Winter!  Plus, Manolos.  Am I right?

This metallic bronzed color is my favorite metallic and the best part is it looks great on all skin tones.  This dress flows and clings on all of the right places.  It looks like a flowy skirt on one part and metallic body paint in the other.

Chelsea skipped the belt and went for flowy all over rather than cinching.  She went for ankle boots to balance the length of it and a leather jacket to make it edgy while keeping it ready to wear this Winter.

Can’t wait to hear how you take these trends and style them so you’re HOLIDAY READY, Darlings!
