3 Reasons to Ditch the Fedora

- Fashion

Hats are such a great accessory for anytime of the year but especially summer.  They keep the sun off of your face and with this season’s wider brims, off of your shoulders too.  They hide humid-induced frizz and can really top off an outfit, pun 100% intended.

But ladies, the short-brimmed fedora… It’s still okay for men but for us, ditch it.  It was cute in 2014 but since then it has been replaced with SO many better choices for a hat.

This black wide brimmed hat from HM is wool so it’s not the best summer hat but it is a perfect transition hat from the slightly cooler spring to the warmer summer weather.  The premium material makes it a quality hat and that shows.  You don’t want a felted wool hat that looks like it was covered in the dollar felt from the craft aisle at Michaels.  The brim is almost 3 inches and it’s black so it’s easy to pair.

The straw hat with the wider brim still has the fedora-style on the top so you’re not completely changing your hat style, but it has this season’s wide brim.  I wore this 3 inch brim straw hat in our day as tourists (in this blog post) and you can see that it shaded my face, neck, and chest which helps keep you from burning while still looking fashionable.

Last but not least is my favorite, the boater hat.  *insert praise hands emoji* The boater hat has a flat top and a wide brim.  This one I got at Target, yup, Target, from the Who What Wear collection.  The black contrast in the 3 1/2 inch brim is my favorite part about it.  The fact that it’s straw makes it a breathable hat so your head isn’t suffocating in the summer heat, but keeping cool with the shade it provides.

Whether you choose the wool, straw, boater or just a classic baseball cap, may you be BRIMMING with confidence, Darlings.
