I think I speak for all of us when I say online shopping is amazing, except when it comes down to color matching makeup. You might be looking through the screen and think you’ve found your go-to new lip shade, but when the package arrives to your house, the color was just not what you envisioned.

I found myself having this issue with ColourPop’s lip colors (and frankly all online makeup stores). While the prices are great, you often times don’t get what you expected. That’s why I wanted to swatch out a couple of their Ultra Matte Lips, Lippie Stix, and liners for you all.

My lips are a natural dull pink so I started with just a base shot for reference:

The first match I wanted to show you is my favorite- “Lady” liner & “Bumble” Ultra Matte lip:

This light and warm terra-cotta shade makes for a perfect everyday wear. I tend do stay away from the color pink on my lips (and anywhere else for that matter) so this subtle shade is perfect for when you just want a touch of color for summer. The liner is more of a darker burgundy shade which wasn’t ideal, but makes for a nice ombré affect.

I decided to carry over the previous “Lady” liner with this “Tulle” Ultra Matte lip:

These two seemed to blend better in my opinion. They are both a similar dusty mauve burgundy shade so they matched perfect. I love adding edge to an all black outfit by matching this lip as a finishing touch.

Getting darker, I combined the “Grunge” liner with its pair, the “Grunge” Matte Lippie Stix:

I really liked experimenting with this cool-toned, plum brown shade. Having tried both, I would personally recommend going with the liquid lip over the glossier lip stix. While it had the consistency of any branded regular lipstick, it just felt a little greasier and less of a permanent stay, rather than the matte.

Lastly, the “Pitch” liner with the “Limbo” Ultra Matte Lip:

With these shades, I was venturing into a darker look that I’ve never done before, but I LOVED it! The deep/blackened liner works perfectly with Limbo’s chocolate brown appearance. You cannot go wrong with this lip at your next Girls Night Out! I would say this lip runs quit similar to KJ’s “True Brown K” Matte Liquid Lipstick for comparison (and a 5th of the price).

If you’re going from anything from a bold & stand-out shade to an easy nude, then ColourPop perfect for you because that is a guarantee. Another plus is that their liquid lips stay on ALL DAY (no really, all day) which is a great quality at the price you pay. You don’t have that cakey/blotchy consistency you may find with other brands as well. One light layer of their product and you’re good to go till nightfall!

*Also thinking of doing a quick over-lining lip video for achieving that full and voluptuous pout, let me know what you think!*

with love, xoxo
