Garden Party Ready

- Fashion

With summer weather steadly approaching, the time for daytime garden parties and rooftop hangouts is back! If you’ve seen our last post, Babies that Brunch, you know that we hosted a vintage brunch, garden party style, at our parent’s home this past weekend. And no fellas, garden parties aren’t ladies gathered around in baggy sweats and garden gloves planting flowers. It’s simply an outdoor party that takes place either on the lawn or patio area.

Light and airy is the vibe at a garden party. Think the most casual attire you can wear, while still feeling dressed up for the affair. Light suits or button-down shirts with khaki’s for men and summery sundresses for women. Floral patterns, pastel hues or bright colors work well in the garden setting. Since the occassion was a baby shower, we both went with wearing solid colors and lace accents as to not clash with the mom-to-be. At other events, you can throw in a floppy hat or if you’re going with a solid-colored dress, pair it with a pop of color in your shoes or jewelry.

Wearing: Revolve Clothing Romper with BCBGeneration Pumps and Chloe + Isabel Bracelet

I went with a navy polyblend and lace trimmed romper and matched it with a casual nude pump. I added a nude tank for more coverage to go with the daytime setting of the event

*Remember to be cautious about wearing heels to this kind of outdoor event, especially if you know you’ll be walking on grass. I chose pumps knowing we’d stay on the deck but in other cases, switch-out pumps for a pair of colorful flats or wedges for walking with ease.*

Another thing ladies sometimes forget about getting ready for events like these, is that nails matter too! Be sure to brush up on your nail color with one that is fitting for the affair. I went with a pastel pink stiletto-tip, in honor of baby Emilia.

Wearing: BCBG white tank with Zara high waisted jeans and ASOS Choker

Nicole went with an off-white, silk tank with lace trim , black high-waisted bottoms, and a black velvet choker

Stick with clothing on a hot summer day made of fabrics such as linen, cotton, silk, and polyblends. Not only are these fabrics comfortable, but they are also light, soft and flowy, so that the fabric can breathe and you can stay focused on enjoying the day!

with love, xoxo
